4-H is a US youth organization coordinated through Cooperative Extension programs, built around hands-on "learn by doing" projects in agriculture, livestock care, cooking, and crafts. Its name and pledge reference four personal-development areas: Head, Heart, Hands, and Health.
At a Connecticut fair, a "4-H show" or "4-H exhibits" means youth club members are formally judged on raised livestock, baked goods, or craft projects, with placings. The Bethlehem, Berlin, and Chester fairs had 4-H shows, exhibits, or competitions. Connecticut also has separate county 4-H fairs, such as the Tolland County 4-H Fair in Vernon and the Litchfield County 4-H Fair in Goshen.
